hood |
To give the front of the
Prelude a more aggressive look, I decided to cut some large holes out
of the hood, which will also serve as air outlets. To not make it look
crappy, it's important that the holes on the left and on the right are
symmetrical. So for marking the holes, I used a mold.

 |
With a jigsaw I roughly
cut out the holes. To make sure I cut straight, I used a straight piece
of wood. I secured the wood to the hood using clamps.
|
I ground away the
corners with a Dremel tool, because that's far more accurate than the
jigsaw. I filed off all flash, and finally I sanded all the edges to a
smooth, even finish.

 |
As you can see, I
followed the inner structure of the hood. That way, you won't have to
cut through the reinforcements of the hood.
|
For the finishing
touch, I chose to go with fine black mesh, so with small openings in them.
The mesh is secured on the inside of the hood and clamped between two
layers of metal. The edges will be kitted as well.

This is what the result looks
like seen from above. Underneath there are a number of photos from different
angles.
