On the front fenders of my Prelude I don't want orange repeaters anymore. So I went on a search for a set of decent clear ones. My choice fell on the repeaters of a '99 Accord. On the picture you see the car they are on.
Two days after ordering them at the Honda dealer I picked them up. For possible interested others, I photographed them with the corresponding part numbers. As you may have gotten used to from Honda, all parts are supplied separately. So the repeater glass, fittings and bulbs must be ordered separately.
Here are again the assembled repeater units. Now let's see how to install these into the fenders
The height of the Accord repeaters is almost equal to the stock ones, but because they just barely fit, I filed half a millimeter off the fender hole. The Accord repeaters are a fair amount wider than stock though. That's why I cut out a small square of the hole and filed it smooth. I measured the dimensions with a caliper gauge and marked everything beforehand.
The plastic clip which clamps the repeater to the fender precisely falls into the cut out square. The dimensions of this square must be measured very accurately. If it's too small, the repeater won't clamp and if it's too large, the repeater will be loose.
This is the right fender. The modifications done to this fender were the same as for the left fender, described above.
